Hiking - Walking: Martlesham Church to Kyson Point Wind Direction: Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: sunny periods Max Speed: Distance Covered: 3 miles (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Monday 20th July - walks **** – Ferry and Martlesham Church to Kyson
Point – Sunny periods.
Mag set off on her early morning prom walk I decided to drive down to
Felixstowe Ferry via Gulpher Road still looking for my first pics of a
working combine, the highlight was spotting a hare! I had a quick walk
round the boatyard at the Ferry but it is getting increasingly difficult to
take something different, perhaps I should have some days off from taking
weather pics for the telly! Then with no wind forecast all week we could
relax, breakfast in the sunny back garden with Mag followed by my
exercises, got the keep the old back moving before I packed the usual
picnic and we headed off on another Squiz mystery tour and actually ended
up parking at Martlesham Church at 12.40 and the field in front of us was a
vibrant yellow, Mag told me it was Ragwort, it looked stunning! Then back
along Church Lane and down through the little wood to the end of Martlesham
Creek where the tide was out and we spotted loads of birds including a
heron, curlews, godwits, swans and loads of gulls! We amble along the good
path towards the River Deben with very few people about! We sat by one of
our favourite spots for a great picnic lunch, the old boathouse at Kyson
Point with views up river to the tide mill! By the time we were walking
back the water was well up the creek, then home with one eye open for a
combine and a field of sunflowers, didn’t spot either! I then posted a
pic of Kyson Point on Stunning Suffolk on Facebook and some kind person
messaged saying there was a combine working along Gulpher Road so I had a
drive down at 5.45 and managed to get some nice pics:)
